Finland GAP Event: Promoting Sustainability Through Arbitration

On Tuesday 5 November 2024, we discussed “Promoting Sustainability Through Arbitration”, at a hybrid event jointly organised with Castrén & Snellman at 8:30 – 10:00am Helsinki.

The risk of ESG disputes is now a part of corporate reality, regardless of a company’s line of business. Arbitration can play an important role in resolving such disputes internationally. The arbitration community is also becoming increasingly aware of the carbon footprint of arbitration proceedings, and several tools have been developed to make arbitration a greener practice. The event will focus on the ways in which arbitration can promote sustainability and tackle climate change.

We warmly welcome you to discuss the ways in which arbitration can promote sustainability and tackle climate change in a breakfast seminar hosted jointly by Castrén & Snellman and Delos Dispute Resolution.

The seminar was held in English. It was in person at Castrén & Snellman’s offices or online.

The speakers (short bios below) were Anna Kuusniemi-Laine, Dr. Ghazal Miyar and Jerker Pitkänen.

The programme for the event was as follows:

8.30am – Breakfast was served
9.00am – Welcoming words by hosts
9.05am – What role can arbitration play in ESG disputes?
9.30am – How to reduce the carbon footprint of arbitration?
9.50am – Questions and audience participation

Recording available here.
