LACIAC LIVE DEBATE 2026
As generative AI continues to reshape professional practice, its use in international arbitration raises important questions about the role of technology in decision-making, the responsibilities of arbitrators, and the integrity of the arbitral process.
For this year’s LACIAC Live Debate, we bring together leading voices in arbitration, law, and technology to debate the motion:
“This House believes that using generative AI to draft a substantial portion of an arbitral award constitutes a breach of the arbitrator’s personal mandate.”
Joining us as debaters are Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya, Partner and Head of the Sports, Entertainment and Technology (SET) Practice at Olisa-Agbakoba Legal and Kiran Nasir Gore, arbitrator, dispute resolution consultant and counsel at the Law Offices of Kiran N Gore PLLC. The debate will be moderated by Emokiniovo Dafe-Akpedeye, Managing Partner at Compos Mentis Legal Practitioners.
With expertise spanning international arbitration, dispute resolution, and technology law, our speakers will explore the boundaries of AI-assisted decision-making and consider what meaningful human oversight should look like in the arbitral process.
