Prof. Dr. Maud Piers is an arbitrator, mediator, and Of Counsel at Gantenberg Dispute Experts, as well as Associate Professor at Ghent University, where she directs the Center for the Future of Dispute Resolution. She serves as Vice-President of CEPANI, the Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation.
Her practice and research focus on international arbitration, dispute resolution, and the impact of emerging technologies on adjudication, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence. She has published extensively on AI and arbitration, including on the evidentiary challenges posed by deepfakes, the use of AI by arbitrators and counsel, AI governance, and the broader transformation of dispute resolution through digital technologies. She is co-author of several recent publications on AI and arbitration and co-editor of Transforming Arbitration: Exploring the Impact of AI, Blockchain, Metaverse, and Web3 and Arbitration in the Digital Age.
Prof. Piers is actively involved in a number of international initiatives on AI and dispute resolution, including the IBA AI Task Force, the CIArb Technology in ADR Thought Leadership Group, and the VIAC Legal Tech Think Tank. She is a frequent speaker at international conferences and regularly advises and contributes to discussions on the future of AI-enabled arbitration.

From left to right, we are honoured to have Gillian Forsyth, Alastair Livesey, Guy MacInnes-Manby, Dr. Ghazal Miyar, Beatriz Molinuevo, Alexandre Vagenheim and Hafez Virjee. Their short bios are set out below.
Dr. Ghazal Miyar is the Head of Training and Outreach at Delos. She is also an adjunct lecturer at Sciences Po Paris, where she obtained a Ph.D., teaching arbitration and human rights, human rights, and international law. Ghazal is admitted as an attorney to the High Court of South Africa, where she has practiced in the field of dispute resolution for several years, writes on dispute resolution issues under South African law, and obtained her LL.B and LL.M at the University of Pretoria. Ghazal has practical experience applying artificial intelligence tools within legal and arbitral workflows, including legal research, case-file and team management, and procedural support in international dispute resolution.
