The ROAP Asia Finals brought to a close our advanced remote oral advocacy and cross-examination courses, by featuring the most persuasive and skilled participants on each course.

The outcome of the finals was determined by a panel of world-class arbitrators consisting of Alastair Henderson (President), Delphine Ho and Michael Lee.

The winners were Sungryul Park (Peter & Kim, Seoul) and Lucia Yau (A&M, London) for the cross-examination course; Bomi Shin (Baker Mckenzie KL Partners, Seoul) and Nakyung Wee (Kim & Chang, Seoul) for the oral submissions course; and Sungryul Park (Peter & Kim, Seoul) as best advocate overall. The other finalists were Clarissa Soon (WongPartnership LLP, Singapore) and Vivian Siu (HKA, Sydney) for the cross-examination course, and Shawn Ang (WongParntership LLP, Singapore) and Nicolás Schuscheim (WilmerHale, London) for the oral submissions course.

TRIBUNAL FOR ROAP ASIA 2026 FINALS

Alastair Henderson is an independent arbitrator based in Singapore, with more than 30 years of experience in complex international dispute resolution. He is widely recognised as a ‘top-notch and efficient arbitrator’ and a member of the ‘international arbitration hall of fame’. He currently serves on the Singapore International Arbitration Centre’s Court of Arbitration and is regarded as one of the region’s ‘arbitration elite’. Previously a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, Alastair led the firm’s arbitration practice across Southeast Asia. He now practices independently as an arbitrator, while continuing as a consultant to the firm. His appointments are conducted separately from the firm to ensure independence and avoid conflicts. He works on cases around the world, with particular experience across South and Southeast Asia. He is familiar with civil and common law systems and is experienced under major international arbitral rules. He also works regularly with the main regional arbitration institutions in Southeast Asia and in ad hoc arbitrations. Alastair understands that parties value efficiency, clarity, and thoughtful engagement from the tribunal. He is committed to being available, responsive, and fully engaged throughout every stage of the case.

Delphine Ho is a full-time independent arbitrator and mediator, with 20 years of experience as counsel, in the Singapore courts and in an arbitral institution. She has been appointed in arbitrations as president, co-arbitrator and sole arbitrator under various arbitral rules, including the rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. Delphine’s disputes expertise spans various sectors and industries, including construction and infrastructure, shareholder and joint venture, energy, commodities, transportation, technology and general commercial matters. Prior to joining The Arbitration Chambers, Delphine was the Registrar of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre from 2016 to 2021. As Registrar, she oversaw the administration of thousands of arbitration cases filed with the SIAC and conducted under the SIAC Arbitration Rules (multiple editions), the UNCITRAL Rules and other institutional rules. In addition to supervising the SIAC Secretariat, she was also responsible for the scrutiny and approval of more than 800 draft awards and orders, and was the statutory authority for the taxation of arbitration costs under the Singapore International Arbitration Act. Delphine started practice in one of the largest legal firms in Singapore, with a practice focused on complex litigation and arbitration. She entered the Singapore judicial service in 2013, serving concurrently as an Assistant Registrar in the Supreme Court and District Judge of the State Courts. In addition, Delphine teaches international arbitration at various levels, and is a member of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators’ (SIArb) faculty.

Michael Lee is an experienced international commercial arbitrator practising principally from Singapore and London. Before joining the English Bar he was a solicitor and a partner in a major international law firm, Norton Rose, where he managed the Paris office and the firm’s international arbitration group. Michael has over 30 years’ experience of practising commercial litigation in the English High Court and international arbitration, as well as coordinating and overseeing overseas litigation. Michael has a wide-ranging practice as an international arbitrator. He has served as a member of the tribunal in over 150 international arbitrations administered under the rules of various international arbitration institutions. These have included the SIAC, HKIAC, ICC, LCIA, ICSID and AAA as well as ad hoc arbitrations and those under UNCITRAL rules. Arbitrations in which he has been appointed have included disputes in the fields of energy supply, oil and gas, agency, joint ventures, expropriation and engineering, as well as finance and banking, involving a variety of national laws and jurisdictions. Michael is on the panel of international arbitrators of the AAA, SIAC, HKIAC, Beijing Arbitration Commission, Asian International Arbitration Centre (formerly Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration) and Indian Council of Arbitration. Michael is also a Centre for Dispute Resolution (CEDR) accredited mediator.

FINALISTS

Shawn Ang is an associate in the Commercial & Corporate Disputes Practice at WongPartnership LLP. He has experience advising and representing clients in complex commercial and corporate disputes, including states, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations, and high-net-worth individuals. Shawn graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Singapore Management University and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.

Sungryul Park is a Senior Associate at Peter & Kim, specialising in international arbitration and litigation across various sectors, including construction, energy, pharmaceuticals, and finance. He has represented domestic and international corporations, as well as the Republic of Korea, in disputes conducted under major institutional rules such as the ICC, SIAC, and LCIA.

Nicolás Schuscheim is an English qualified senior associate in the International Arbitration team at WilmerHale in London. Nicolás has advised on and represented clients in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under a variety of rules, including HKIAC, ICC, ICSID, LCIA, SIAC, UNCITRAL and VIAC rules. He has particular experience with energy, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and luxury goods disputes, with a side practice in human rights law at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.Prior to joining WilmerHale, Nicolás trained and worked in the London and Tokyo offices of Herbert Smith Freehills, where he also worked as in-house counsel at ITOCHU’s Tokyo headquarters. Nicolás is thankful and excited for the opportunity to participate in the ROAP Asia 2026 Oral Submissions finals.

Bomi Shin is a first-year associate in the Dispute Resolution Group at Baker McKenzie & KL Partners, where she focuses on international arbitration. She has assisted on ICC and SIAC arbitrations involving Korea-related parties. Bomi is qualified to practise in the Republic of Korea, having been admitted in 2026. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Seoul National University and a J.D. from Korea University School of Law.

Vivian Siu is a Chartered Accountant with nearly 15 years of experience. She has assisted the named
forensic accounting and quantum experts on over 60 occasions. Vivian has produced expert reports for submission to the courts of Australia, Hong Kong, the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands, as well as in international arbitrations under HKIAC, ICC, UNCITRAL, SIAC, and CIETAC rules. She has led complex financial modelling, financial and data analysis, research, and document review on disputes with values of up to $2 billion. Vivian specialises in quantifying damages and economic loss, asset and business valuations, and forensic accounting. She has assisted clients with disputes involving breaches of contract, shareholders, postacquisition, lost profits, financial misconduct, and investor-state matters.
Vivian’s disputes advisory experience is primarily in the Asia Pacific region across a range of sectors,
including construction, real estate, telecom, pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, retail, and education. Prior to
dispute advisory, she has a background in audit, risk, and compliance. Vivian is a Business Valuation Specialist and a Certified Fraud Examiner. She is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Clarissa Soon s a Senior Associate at WongPartnership LLP, where she practises in complex commercial litigation before the Singapore courts and international arbitration under leading institutional rules (including the SIAC, HKIAC and UNCITRAL Rules). She regularly acts in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional disputes for Fortune 500 companies, state-owned entities and ultra-high net worth individuals. She was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2019 and was one of the top candidates in her cohort.

Nakyung Wee is a junior attorney in Kim & Chang’s Litigation and International Arbitration Practice. She has extensive experience representing domestic and multinational clients in numerous international commercial arbitration cases and domestic litigation cases. Her recent work includes disputes involving investment agreements, insurance agreements, and product liability, as well as domestic criminal cases in the automobile industry. She received her J.D. from Yonsei University, School of Law in 2022. She is admitted to the Korean bar and is fluent in both Korean and English. 

Lucia Yau is a Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations practice in London. She is a forensic accountant with over 11 years of experience in expert accounting, contentious valuation, financial investigations and litigation support, built upon an early career in insolvency management. Her experience spans commercial disputes, investor-state disputes, regulatory and financial crime matters across various sectors, including oil and gas, energy, mining, pharmaceutical, software and technology, manufacturing, hotel and leisure, property investments and management.​ Other matters Ms. Yau has been involved in include claims against directors or others where expert advice/opinion on technical accounting, solvency and quantum of damages was sought. An example is a civil penalty action taken out by the Australian financial regulator against a mining company on financial misstatements. ​ Ms. Yau has also worked on a range of financial and regulatory investigations in relation to, for example, fraud, accounting manipulation, bribery and corruption (including FCPA allegations), asset identification and tracing. Some of the work was performed in parallel with or in the context of insolvency (both corporates and individuals) or other asset preservation/recovery proceedings. ​Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Yau worked in Hong Kong, where she focused on insolvency management as well as asset and fund tracing investigations.​ Ms. Yau earned a BBA and a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Hong Kong. She is a Fellow of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and holds a Specialist Qualification in Insolvency from the HKICPA. She speaks native Cantonese and is fluent in Mandarin.​
