Delos-Y Budapest Breakfast – 19 May 2026

The Delos-Y Budapest Breakfast will take place on 19 May 2026, at Szecskay Attorneys at Law, Kossuth Lajos tér 16-17, Budapest. The event will feature two topics: “Getting Arbitration Drafting Right: A Practical Guide for Young Practitioners” and “Two Forums, Two Mindsets: Acting as Counsel in Litigation and Arbitration”.

The event will feature Szilvia Nagy (Enhance Arbitration, Amsterdam), Petra Pataki (Queritius, Budapest), Peter Plachy (CMS, Bratislava), Philip Exenberger (Dorda, Vienna), Miklós Boronkay (Szecskay, Budapest).

This Delos-Y Breakfast was held in conjunction with Szecskay.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

Miklós Boronkay, is the head of Szecskay Attorneys at Law’s Dispute Resolution team. He specializes in complex commercial litigation and arbitration cases, as well as in competition law matters. He has advised and represented clients in major international (ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL) and Hungarian arbitrations and court proceedings. He has also represented clients before Hungarian courts in real estate, commercial, corporate and tax disputes. Miklós is an expert in tort and contract law, and has written for a number of publications that cover these areas. He is an arbitrator listed on the Roll of Arbitrators of the Permanent Arbitration Court attached to the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and he is one of the most employed arbitrators in Hungary in recent years. Miklós also acts as an arbitrator in VIAC arbitration proceedings. Besides his Dispute Resolution practice, Miklós has solid knowledge and considerable experience in competition law matters. He has participated in a number of cartel, unfair competition and merger control proceedings before the Hungarian Competition Office. Miklós has been a university lecturer for various Private Law courses for more than a decade (both graduate and postgraduate courses). He is author of over 40 publications. He is fluent in English and German.

Philip Exenberger, joined DORDA’s Dispute Resolution team in 2011 and specialises in international commercial arbitration and cross-border litigation. He is a counsel with particular focus in highly complex disputes, with commercial and technical aspects such as construction disputes. He is an expert in managing extensive evidentiary proceedings and is an experienced party counsel before arbitral tribunals and state courts. Philip also advises clients regarding claim management prior to the initiation of arbitral or state court proceedings. In addition, Philip is the author of multiple specialist publications on commercial arbitration.

Szilvia Nagy, is a counsel at Enhance Arbitration. She focuses on complex international arbitration at the intersection of commercial disputes, investment protection and public international law, drawing on over more than a decade experience acting for listed companies and multinational corporations in high-stakes, cross-border proceedings. Szilvia has a particular interest in the Central and Eastern European markets.

Petra Pataki, is a Partner at Queritius. She focuses her practice on high-stakes international and domestic commercial disputes and litigation with international elements before Hungarian courts. She has experience handling such cases before various arbitral forums, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Vienna Arbitral Centre (VIAC), the Permanent Arbitration Court attached to the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK), as well as ad hoc arbitration under the rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). Petra’s experience includes arbitration cases brought under various types of commercial and construction contracts. Her litigation experience extends to commercial, regulatory, and labour law disputes, at all levels of court. Petra has worked across a multitude of industry areas, including the transportation, manufacturing, retail, IT, and energy sectors and has advised clients with their disputes pre- and post-litigation. Petra is completing her studies as a psychologist. Her main area of interest is how memory distortions occur and how to identify memory gaps and cognitive biases in judicial proceedings. She puts her knowledge to use in complex arbitration proceedings, where effective cross-examination of witnesses is key. Additionally, Petra is a member of the European Association of Psychology and Law. Petra has 10 years of experience working at top international law firms. Before joining Queritius, Petra was a senior lawyer in international dispute-resolution groups of leading global law firms in Budapest.

Peter Plachy, is a Partner and the Head of Dispute Resolution at CMS Bratislava. He has over a decade of experience in advising clients on high-stakes disputes, often involving complex cross-border elements. Peter has acted as counsel in both commercial and investment treaty arbitrations and has represented clients before all instances of the Slovak courts. He has been involved in arbitrations administered by leading arbitration institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, VIAC and ICSID. Peter has particular experience in representing clients in corporate and post-M&A disputes as well as in disputes in the energy, oil and gas, insurance, hospitality, technology and automotive sectors. Apart from being qualified to represent clients before the Slovak courts, Peter is also qualified to practice in New York. Prior to joining CMS, he also spent two years practicing in Dubai, UAE. Peter is ranked as a Leading Associate in the area of dispute resolution by Legal 500, as well as a Future Leader in Arbitration by Lexology Index (formerly known as Who’s Who Legal).

Maria Polakova‘s practice primarily focuses on investor-state arbitration. She has represented clients in numerous high-profile cases before tribunals constituted under the ICSID and UNCITRAL Rules and has also advised on prospective investor-state claims. In addition, Mária has acted for clients in international commercial arbitration and domestic litigation proceedings. Mária is the chair of Delos-Y, a platform within the innovative arbitration institution Delos seated in Paris and dedicated to networking and career mentoring for younger arbitration practitioners and professionals interested in arbitration. She previously served as a co-chair of the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (Young ICCA).
