YSIAC-YPG-YMG-YSCL Debate Motion: This House Believes that Virtual Hearings Should Become the Default Mode of Hearing beyond the Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted businesses on a global scale and has had an unprecedented impact worldwide where all industries and sectors have been affected. The World Bank in its 2020 Year in Review described it “a truly unprecedented crisis”.

Due to travel restrictions that remain in place in most parts of the world, the pandemic has changed the way arbitration proceedings are conducted. Virtual hearings are now the preferred mode of hearing. Nonetheless, should virtual hearings become the default mode of hearing beyond the pandemic?

This event brings together young practitioners from YSIAC, YPG, YMG and YSCI, for a lively and engaging debate regarding the future of virtual arbitration hearings. Viewers will have the opportunity to vote to decide if the motion stands.
